Weekend Update

I didn't do much this weekend and it was just what I needed. What a relief it was not to set an alarm and roll out of bed just before noon. I need to organize the zillions of files on my computer and started/gave up with music. I finally downloaded Carrie Underwood's latest album, Blown Away, and look forward to seeing her on tour this fall. So far I like the album and am sure it will grow on me over time.

I went to west elm to get a white duvet cover and came home with this one. I originally wanted the Pintuck style but the employees suggested this one since it didn't require steaming. I love the texture and am happy I went to see them in person.

I hadn't been to Forever 21 in awhile... this scarf print top was waiting for me.

I have an agenda... but I'm bored with it. I have been using my Google calendar lately but it's just not working for me. I have caved and finally got one of the Erin Condren Life Planners that everyone raves about. Are you part of the club?

Lilly Loves Green

Lilly Pulitzer Market Bag in Ugotta Regatta and Fan Dance
Lifeguard Press kindly sent me these Lilly Pulitzer Market Bags to review. I prefer the new shorter, wider size. Reusable bags are one of the easiest ways to be green... that is if you have them with you when you go shopping. It's easier to remember when they are Lilly. These bags are study and also great for the pool, beach and excursions. They are just fun to use!

Is it silly to say that these bags made my experience at Walmart last night less depressing? Anyway, the two bags held 50 hangers plus some extra items easily. I was on a mission to find more space saving velvet hangers without the bar along the bottom at the best price. Please don't tell me you have the big fat plastic hangers in your closet... I promise you will fit twice as much if not more with these.

Moving...

via Better Homes and Gardens
The latest news... I'm moving in a month! I am really excited to start fresh with a new space and hopefully display all of the random things I have been hoarding from Home Goods (elephants, elephants, elephants). This home was featured in Better Homes and Gardens in 2011 and I fell in love with the style. No surprise it was both designed and inhabited by a professional, Amy Meier.

This ikat fabric, Kalah Blue, is from Calico Corners. Obsessed.

I just want everythinggggg. You can see more of Amy Meier's work on her blog and Facebook page. Incredibly inspiring!

On a sidenote, you can imagine my excitement when I read that she was married on the Vineyard. Her wedding ceremony in Edgartown and reception in West Tisbury were absolutely gorgeous. See the slideshow on Martha Stewart Weddings.

Bridal Shower Wine Basket

Last weekend I went to a bridal shower in Boston for my friend Alexis. I loved this wine basket of "Firsts" that she received and plan to put one together for an upcoming shower.
Custom wine labels read:
First Anniversary
First Fight
First Valentine's Day
First Baby
First Dinner Party
...and I can't remember the last but you get the point!

Here are a few variations that include poems. You may have been to a shower where the basket was given by the bridesmaids and each recited one to the bride.

This tutorial includes tag printables in a variety of colors.

Another how-to that includes printables and tips for putting your basket together.

This melamine beverage tub is filled with wine corks.

Kathy, Alexis (the bride), me and Meg at the shower. Alexis and her fiancé Dan will be married at Trinity Church in Copley Square this fall, can't wait!

Aboard the Alabama

One of the highlights of my recent trip to the Vineyard was a sunset sail aboard the Alabama, a 90-foot schooner, of The Black Dog Tall Ships. You may be familiar with The Black Dog Tavern and stores... the ships actually came first.

Dress: Lilly Pulitzer. Sunglasses: Kate Spade. Necklace: Max and Chloe.  Watch: Michael Kors. Bag: Longchamp. Sandals: Sperry.

Lilly Pulitzer Worth Blue Docksider print.

I bought a mesh hair donut at H&M... much easier than rolling a sock to get the full bun look. I would like to lie and tell you this stayed in place the whole time.

We came prepared for the 3 hour excursion with beer, wine, carrots, humus and sushi rolls.

Ted and tumbler in hand.

Friday's Fancies: Wedding Guest

I have a million things I need to do (pay bills, laundry, pack for my trip to Boston this weekend, etc.)... but instead I decided to pick out my $7,000 Friday's Fancies outfit. I am going to a wedding in a couple weeks and would love to be wearing that DVF dress! At first I wasn't sure if this dress was "too white" for a wedding... but then decided it was gold and would be fine. What do you think? I added the magenta pumps for a pop of color.

Have you ever worn a solid color dress to a wedding and unintentionally matched the bridesmaids? This recently happened to my friend but luckily she packed an alternate dress. As she was getting ready she looked out the window of her hotel and saw the bridal party taking pre-ceremony pictures. Her dress was almost identical! I usually wear prints but am now conscious of this potential situation... personally I would like to avoid explaining to Granda that I am not a bridesmaid.

True story.

Happy weekend!

P.S. I would like to welcome my new followers! I have some serious blog reading to do and I can't wait to catch up with everyone. :)

Meet Lara

Meet Lara, my current color!

I received the Zoya Beach & Surf 2012 Collection courtesy of Zoya and People StyleWatch to review. I was excited to finally give this brand a try, especially since it is a toxic-free formula. I typically buy Essie and OPI because they are used at most salons and I can touch up with my own bottle at home. I've been happy with the color and quality of Zoya so it looks like I will be toting these along with me to the salon or giving them a try myself.

I was immediately drawn to the creamy Beach colors (bottom) because they remind me of Lilly Pulitzer's color palette. I had my nails painted Arizona, the orange shade, before I left for my trip. It was fun to switch it up for once but was eager to try the pink shades. I painted Lara on a few days later. The application was easy and I didn't even need a second coat. If you like blue/green shades you will love Wednesday.

Pairs well with a dirty martini!

Have you tried Zoya? (Birchbox subscribers, I know many of you have!) How do you think it compares with other popular brands?

Unpacked

I got home late Sunday night and decided to wait a day to unpack. Here is a little collection of some of the Martha's Vineyard memories from my purse and beach bag...

Edible Vineyard - I must credit "THE DISH: THAT ONE THING THEY SHOULD NEVER TAKE OFF THE MENU" for the amazing lobster roll at the Menemsha Gallery my last afternoon.
Shades - Courtesy of the Seafood Shanty during the Edgartown Fireworks.
Bottle Cap - BE A LITTLE TWISTED was sandwiched in the sandy bottom corner of my beach tote. What I wouldn't do to be back on East Beach sipping a Twisted Tea Half & Half!
Seastreak Ticket - Ted and I took the "fast" ferry from Manhattan to Martha's Vineyard. The ride was about 6 hours... but at least we didn't have to deal with traffic on I95.
Chesca's Restaurant - The grilled salmon in Thai chili barbecue glaze was delishhhh.
Espresso Love - I earned my free coffee. Hopefully I don't lose the card before my next visit in the fall.
Coasters - I always feel compelled to put a few unused coasters in my purse... when the bartender isn't looking.
Ted - I saw Ted with Ted. (The movie was ok... the ice cream after was better.)
