Blue and White Love

I follow a few local florists on Instagram... how beautiful is this tablescape? I love the blue porcelain balls in the clear vase. I hope I can somehow incorporate this into some type of arrangement at home in the future or place them in a clear ginger jar.

Cocktail napkins from Lettermade for my future bar cart. I wanted one for our new place, but don't have the right baby proof spot to put one. Times (and interior design choices) are changing.

Robe: Fleur't. iPhone Case: Sonix iPhone 6 / iPhone 6 Plus.

Today marks 34 weeks! My current favorite white robe for lounging around and blue accessory that goes with me everywhere. Since the 6 Plus is already big I didn't want a case that would add any bulk. Sonix has so many cute patterns - I also have the pineapple print.

Floral Design with Juliska

Floral arranging... a skill I wish I had. I'm working on it! I recently took a class at Juliska with florist Jakkelyn Iris hosted by bloggers Julia Dzafic and Meg Hall. I left with this beautiful arrangements and some great tips.
Jakkelyn pointed out that the vase we were working with, Juliska's Ines Vase, is an ideal size and shape for versatility.  I have so many ginger jars and vases around my apartment but often feel like I never have the right size for whatever flowers I'm working with. I think this one will be put to great use. She recommended the same vase for 2 bunches of tulips, which you will now easily find for a great price because they are in season.

We had gorgeous greens and blooms to choose from. We started off with greens and the protea (the large tropical pink flower) and from there added the other flowers, varying the height and positioning. We were encouraged to buy greens and flowers separately instead of a pre-made bouquet the next time we are picking up flowers.

If you are in Fairfield County, I highly recommend one of the classes at Juliska in Stamford with a friend! If you don't live here but find yourself traveling through the Northeast, the boutique is just off I95 (exit 8) and has a cafe inside. My kind of coffee break!

This and That

I picked up this top at Target for post baby workouts... and let's be honest just to wear (athleisure). It also comes in gray. I got both! Some of you might like to know that there is no visible logo on it. It's an open back but not too open where I would feel uncomfortable out and about.

How cute are these teethers and pacifier clips? I found this etsy shop while trolling Instagram baby hashtags (yes, I do that). The donut and ice cream cone are sold out but available for pre-order now. (They also come in blue and gray shades for the boys.)

I have a list of coffee table books I hope to acquire soon ... including this one. Dreaming of Palm Beach!

My goal was to send out my shower thank you notes two weeks after the luncheon. Mission accomplished! Back during my wedding planning I made it a habit to write a thank you note for anything I received in the mail right away so I wouldn't forget or feel overwhelmed in the end. It stuck and I have to say it really helps! I start to spell things wrong (including my own name) when I have too many to write. Sharpie pens are my deteriorating handwriting savior.

Since we recently moved it was time to order another custom return address stamper. Adds a personal touch to any stationery.

I'm headed to Boston this weekend for my friend Kate's bachelorette party. I'll be toting this present up for her. Loving the Sea Mint color... I was so happy with how it turned out I had to order one for myself too. (Note: The Sea Mint is only available in the Medium and Large sizes.)

Lots of pastels... I'm ready for spring!

Baby Shower

Last weekend my mom threw a beautiful baby shower luncheon for me and 20 of my closest friends, colleagues and mother-in-law. It was held at one of my favorite restaurants in the area, Harlan Social. Friends traveled from Pennsylvania, Massachusetts and in between. It was the perfect afternoon and I couldn't have asked for more (ok, maybe some of the wine). Baby B and I are feeling very blessed!

Floral Design: Gary Z of Stamford
Dress: Diane Von Furstenberg ("Layla" style, bump friendly with an added bow)

If you are planning a bridal or baby shower in the Stamford/Fairfield County area, my mom and I highly recommend all of the vendors above. They are wonderful to work with!

Baby B's Nursery

Baby B's nursery is starting to come together! We have the crib, rug and rocking chair. The Pottery Barn furniture will be delivered next weekend and I'm finalizing the other elements. I'm anxious to get everything set up and see it all come together.

I lucked out and found the exact Bratt Decor crib I wanted on Craigslist. The style was recently retired. I set up several alerts in the surrounding tristate area and luckily it popped up. At first I was apprehensive to buy a pre-owned crib but realized that was silly. It's made of iron, looks as good as new and there have been no recalls.

As for the chair, my mom was adamant about a wooden rocker that could move from the nursery to the living room. I told her about a club glider I had been looking at and she wasn't having any of my modern nursery talk. Well, I'm not going to argue with her since she is close by and will be helping me. I went with the natural color because I figure I can always paint it in the future and liked how the natural finish was incorporated in the nursery below. Now I'm very happy with this decision.

I have this Sugarboo Designs elephant print that I adore (posted here). I bought it a few years ago at my favorite store on Martha's Vineyard. It's perfect for a gender neutral nursery. Since my elephant already happily lives on a wall in another room I hope to get the Oui Oui Cherie and another coordinating print for Baby B. They have so many great pieces!

Making sure all of these pinks will match. I ordered fabric swatches for crib bedding from Restoration Hardware and the bench from Home Decorators Collection to match a rug I already had.

These are the two nurseries that I keep looking back at for inspiration. They are both lovely... wish that I could transplant either one into my apartment.

#30weeks

Sunglasses: Ray Ban. Jacket: Patagonia. Scarf: Calypso St. Barth. Top: lululemon (sized up for maternity). Leggings: lululemon. Sneakers: Nike (On sale! I ordered a 1/2 size down).

Hi there! I'm back... with a much bigger belly. I am 30 weeks along in my pregnancy and in my third trimester. Baby B is quite active and Ted can see and feel her kicks. She is growing by the day. Some days I feel like April is forever away, and other days I don't have any time at all!

Overall I have been feeling well, but that's not to say I don't have my complaints. I have a hard time sleeping comfortably, but the Snoogle pillow has been my savior. I think Ted wishes he had one too, haha. What else... since my belly is stretching my skin is really sensitive and itchy. Pants, socks and shoes are a daily struggle to get on and off and I've managed to pull muscles jean shopping. I've been having bizarre dreams. In the grand scheme, I realize these are really minor issues and I'm thankful not to have anything serious going on.

Back to the positive. I've been able to keep a workout schedule. I've continued with pre-natal yoga once a week and barre at least 1-2 nights. When I can't make it to class I try to at least get some treadmill walking in. Some nights it's really hard to get going but once I do I feel so much better. I live around the corner from my gym and also have one in my building so distance isn't an excuse.

 Jacket: Burberry. Scarf: Gap.
No filter, great lighting.

My hair has been in much better condition this winter than usual... I can definitely thank pregnancy for that! I'm sure that my prescription prenatal helps (Prenate Elite). Since I have cut out cardio workouts that make me sweat bullets I don't wash my hair as often, which means less heat styling. While many people love their "second day hair" and swear by dry shampoo, that's not the case for me. I prefer fresh hair. I toss and turn in my sleep and usually wake up with a scary 80's mullet look that needs to be restyled. I blame my bangs but I can't force myself to fully grow them out. Ultimately I'd rather have healthy hair so it's been a good change cutting back.

One of my favorite dry shampoos is Batiste, which you can almost always find at TJ Maxx and Marshalls or at Target. I'm partial to the Blush scent. I'm going to assume it's better for blondes since it helps cover my roots between highlighting. My other favorite is Oribe's Dry Texturing Spray. Too bad it's 7x more in price. Based on reviews it seems to work well on all hair types and colors.

Oribe Shampoo for Beautiful Color $42 and Conditioner for Beautiful Color $44

Speaking of Oribe, I'm also loving everything about their Beautiful Color shampoo and conditioner except for the price tag. I will say a little goes a long way. For now I'm alternating it with other abandoned shampoos and conditioners I need to "use up". Next up I would like to try Oribe's Bright Blonde formula that is free of sulfates and parabens.

More Baby B and other life updates to come. Next up, nursery!
