What I'm Loving...

Loving the colors in this fleece. Since it turned chilly in CT it's moved up on my wish list.

My cooking endeavors continue... this quick and easy recipe is from Cooking Light Way To Cook Vegetarian. (I loveeee goat cheese.)

Goat Cheese and Asparagus Pizza
Yield: 6 servings
For a crispier pizza, lightly coat the crust with cooking spray before adding the toppings.

1/3 cup commercial pesto
1 (12 inch) packaged cheese-flavored pizza crust (such as Baboli)
2 plum tomatoes, thinly sliced
8 asparagus spears, cut into 1-inch pieces
3/4 cup (3 ounces) crumbled goat cheese

Preheat oven to 450°. Spread pesto over pizza crust, and top with tomato, asparagus, and cheese. Place pizza directly on center rack in oven. Back at 450° for 10 to 12 minutes or until asparagus is crisp-tender and cheese melts.

Teddy added anchovies to his side... no thanks. Maybe one day I will make my own crust or sauce... not anytime soon.

Loving these nautical and sea-inspired pumpkins. This photo reminded me that I will be visiting the Vineyard in just a couple weeks for Columbus Day. So excited!

Thanks to all that entered the Southern Tide Giveaway. Kristin T. was the lucky winner!

Bring on the fall showers...

via Instagram (Follow me - msslindsay)

One of my first blog posts was How To Clean Hunter Boots back in January 2011. I own a matte pair and again this year needed to freshen them up and remove the white film. Goo Gone and Hunter Boot Buffer Spray do the trick... see my post for the step by step. I hope the next time it rains I actually check the forecast that morning.

I am partial to the rugged matte finish but if you aren't up for the maintenance go for the high gloss version.

Friday's Fancies: Football Frenzy

When it comes to NFL football I'm usually watching from my couch or with a few friends on their couch, that's why I'm keeping it super casual. For the last 2 Big Blue Superbowl victories I have been wearing leggings and sneakers so for good luck I'm going with the same ensemble for this week's Football Frenzy theme.

Why did I choose these sneakers? Please see list before you stop reading my blog.
1. They are blue.
2.Because it's Friday's Fancies and if I want to have ugly $225 sneakers I can.
3. See image below.

Ahh... see they aren't so bad. Oh wait, what wouldn't these Victoria's Secret models look good in? Would you wear them?

Do you have anything from the Victoria's Secret NFL line? I'll take a jersey please.

Blue and white ginger jars are classic and timeless... I can't get enough!

I'm always amazed at how these blue and white pieces can be incorporated into so many different types of decor.

A pretty set from C. Wonder.

This print would add some unbreakable blue and white decor to a college dorm room.

I love seeing flowers displayed in ginger jars... here is another take for a fall tablescape.

HomeGoods Alert

via Instagram (Follow me - msslindsay)

After work on Friday I went to HomeGoods where I saw them unpacking Lilly Pulitzer and Jonathan Adler stationery/home/office/gift goodies. This happens a couple times a year and most items go quickly (as you can tell from the comment left by Lindsey of Keep It Classy Alabama).

I went to 5 HomeGoods over the course of the weekend and somehow didn't buy any of it. I definitely walked around each store with something in hand (including that Jonathan Adler laptop case) and talked myself out of it by checkout. The majority of Lilly items I saw were in the blue and orange "Do The Wave" print. Overall, the selection was limited, so I am hoping more will come in.

FYI If you are going to look, most of the items were in front of the store by the checkout line.

I did get a few basic things for my new place including a mirror and baskets. You know I love elephants... but I had to pass on this one haha. I want to know where this guy ends up!

Lately...

Goodbye Jacks... hello booties. I've been wearing these with dresses instead of my sandals since Labor Day. I am ready for fall clothes and something different.

Anyone that has asked me where I bought these is surprised when I say Kohl's. I like that they are low cut around the ankle and the dip in the front helps to elongate your legs. If you don't know how you feel about the trend, great way to test it out without breaking the bank.

I have had a set of these cubes (dubbed "Shoeville" by my father) since college and switch out shoes each season. Until the day when I have my dream custom closet with shoe shelves, these work just fine.

Moving on... I made these Skinnytaste Spinach Lasagna Rolls earlier this week. Easy and delicious. Now that I know about this site I am seeing the recipes all over blogs and Pinterest. Any other Skinnytaste recs out there?
(I was inspired by Life's a Beach for this one - thanks for the tip!)

Did you watch the premier of X Factor? The last thing I need in my life is another reality show... especially since I'm now hooked on the train wreck Here Comes Honey Boo Boo.... but I'm so happy to see Simon and Britney back on the scene.

Alexis and Dan

Last weekend I was a bridesmaid for my longtime bestie Alexis. Dan is her perfect match and I am beyond happy for them. They both went to the same college in Boston but didn't meet until after they graduated when a mutual friend introduced them. They found pictures from their college days where they were both at the same events, even in group pictures together. Crazy!

The ceremony was at Trinity Church and reception at the Fairmont Copley Plaza. Gorgeous flowers!

Congratulations Alexis and Dan! Love you!

Bullseye

Sonia Kashuk Limited Edition Brush Couture 4 Pc Travel Brush Set $12.99

I couldn't resist the cute pattern on these brushes. Every now and then I read a good review on these affordable Target tools so giving them a shot.

Sonia Kashuk Plaid Cosmetic Bag Collection

I'm a sucker for anything plaid. The bags are also available in the tile print on the brushes.

e.l.f. Essential Hypershine Gloss in Flirt $1.00

Pink Lou Lou introduced me to these $1 lip glosses and now I'm hooked. They are great for everyday and at $1 you can get one to leave in your car, desk at work, etc.

When people ask me why I choose to live in Connecticut and not New York City, the truth is because at 10PM on a weekday I need the ability to get in my car and drive to Target.
