Cropped Craze

(Available in stores only - use the "find in stores button" to locate)

I went to Target to get makeup remove wipes and left with three pairs of these juniors cropped colored jeans. You never know what you'll find! (Warning, they run small.) They are also available in pink but sold out everywhere around me. Great price point.

Shirt: J. Crew. Jeans: Target. Sandals: Jack Rogers. Sunnies: Kate Spade (similar style).

Here I am wearing the tan jeans outside of Togs in New Canaan, one of my favorite boutiques in Fairfield County. Milly, Shoshanna, Tibi... I want everything in there. There was a storewide sale so I left with a couple of things including these jeans that I am obsessed with.

AG Adriano Goldschmied Jeans The Stilt Roll Up in 13 Years Florescent Orange
They are sold out on the AG site but can be found at the following: Zappos, Bloomingdales, Piperlime and also individual sizes on Amazon.

I think the detailing is more pink than orange - in love with them! I changed into them right away in the car.

I hate trying to find jeans the right length and having different pairs for flats and heels. Cropped is the way to go.

Friday's Fancies: Date Night

Happy Friday's Fancies! For this week's date night theme I chose a basic ensemble for dinner and a movie with a hint of coral and mint. (Always wear pants to the theater, those seats are nasty!)

Since I'm usually cold in the theater I added the cardigan. If I don't need it I'll just stuff it in this PS1 along with Sour Patch Watermelons and seltzer from Duane Reade. (Emily Maynard has been spotted with this bag, which makes me want it even more. Can't wait for Bachelorette.)

Well, no date night for me this weekend. Teddy is in Nashville for a Bachelor party and I am going to Foxwoods Resort Casino on the other side of Connecticut for the bride's final fling. Have a great weekend!

Edgartown Columbus Day Weekend 2011

1. What inspired your blog?
Like many other bloggers, I had been reading and following blogs for a few years before starting my own as a creative outlet (see my first post). As for the name, I bought the domain "vineyardloveknots.com" in 2008 for another venture in the works. I started my blog in 2011 and figured I might as well use Vineyard Loveknots in the meantime.
2. What lessons have you learned from blogging?
It ain't cheap. You will discover new blogs with new things you want to buy everyday. I'm inspired by so many!
3. What's your favorite article of clothing you own and why?
I love wearing dresses - one and done! When I pair a top/bottom it takes me forever.
4. It's a rainy, gloomy day. What are your plans?
I usually turn on the radio and take a nap. I don't get nearly enough sleep during the week so catch up when I can.
5. One pet-peeve when it comes to blogging?
Spammy "Follow me I'll follow you" type comments.
6. Losing what piece of jewelry would devastate you the most?
My cross necklace. I'm not sure I would ever find one just like it again.
7. Where would you recommend going for a quick getaway?
Martha's Vineyard. Duh!
8. Your next goal in life is what?
Hmm... that's a tough one. I'd love to be my own boss someday.
9. Favorite comfort food?
Hands down, grilled cheese.
10. If money was no object starting NOW, what would be your first purchase?
Let's go to Chanel.
11. A book you've read more than once and can recommend?
The only book that I have reread that comes to mind is Harry Potter.

I was also tagged by Abi Jane of Lilly Limes and Kelsey of The High School Prep for the Versatile Blogger award. Since both ladies are in high school I thought I would travel back in time for my 7 facts.

A few of my senior portraits

1. I was senior class president.
2. I was editor-in-chief of the yearbook for two years.
3. I ran cross country and winter track to stay in shape for spring lacrosse. Unlike lacrosse, I didn't take either seriously and really dreaded practice.
4. I skipped classes multiple times to go to MTV's TRL studio. Teeny bopper!
5. Even when I could drive myself to school I would beg my mom to drop me off so I had extra time to study in the car. I crammed for just about every test and learned quickly in college that my study habits needed to change.
6. I applied early decision to Lehigh and luckily it worked out.

Junior Prom

7. I laugh when I think about this prom dress. Sheer stomach panel, haha. I went to junior and senior prom with my friend Matt and I couldn't have asked for a better date! (He has a food blog, Matt Likes to Cook - Matt Likes to Eat with amazing recipes like Chocolate Maple Bacon Pecan Fudge. Check it out!)

Thanks to Manda, Abi Jane and Kelsey for the tags!

The next stop is...

Since I work in Manhattan I got a kick out of these imaginary subway maps from Transit Authority Figures for Cape Cod & The Islands. Getting on the wrong line or missing your stop wouldn't be such a bad thing... whoops I ended up on Nantucket instead of the Vineyard.

Amanda and Brian's Engagement Party

Over the weekend I traveled to Massachusetts for Amanda and Brian's engagement party. It was a beautiful New England spring day and luckily the April showers held off until after the soiree.

The blue bicycle motif was so fitting for their upcoming wedding in Chatham.

Amanda loves Disney... Brian's aunt brought these for fun!

Minnie and Mickey led us to the party down the block.

Two of my favorite appetizers.

Sara and me with the lovely bride. We can't wait to stand by her on the big day!

Derby Fever

Derby fever is setting in. One of my girlfriends in Boston found this Kiribilla dress on Charles Street... wouldn't it pair perfectly with a mint julep? LOVE!

Navy Navy Navy

Milly for Sperry is one of my favorite collaborations to date. I have had these navy platform heels on sale alert and I finally bit the bullet when the price was lowered at Piperlime. (They are also available from Sperry in all sizes.)

If you didn't hear Piperlime is offering 20% until midnight with code TWENTY. I am just trying not to go on the site because there are so many things I want including this maxi. I love browsing through Olivia Palermo's Picks because I would wear just about anything with her stamp of approval. (Great marketing move, Piperlime.)

I have bought my mom a few blue and white bags from Brighton over the years for Mother's Day and her birthday. This is one I would get her and then borrow! There are many other cute nautical inspired bags and accessories in their Make Waves collection to check out.

Friday Funnel

Bored...

Voila! This charming home before my eyes leads me to House of Turquoise (one of those blogs I think, "How I am only finding this now?!") where I browse around for more Vineyard mentions...

Finally I land here. Patrick Ahearn, Vineyard architect extraordinaire. I'll just have to hire him to build my island getaway...in my next lifetime.

I love all of the blue and white touches inside the homes and especially the American flag pictured here. (You'll find me on the Vineyard this Fourth of July!)

I couldn't resist posting the children's folly. I wish I could fit inside!

Have a great weekend! xo

Easter Recipes

This asparagus soup is a first course favorite that my mom has made for Easter the past couple of years. Next time she said it would be best to make ahead of time and heat up since it's time consuming.

I can't say I helped but taste test... verdict was delicious!

Moving right along to dessert. I was actually involved with the making of these carrot cake cupcakes with cream cheese frosting. (A big step up from Funfetti. There was a box of Duncan Hines carrot cake mix and frosting ready just in case something went wrong.)

I used a recipe from Martha Stewart's Cupcakes, which can be found online here. The recipe yields 24 but I ended up with 33.

This bunny cupcake stand is from Pottery Barn and sold out quickly. Due to popularity I have a feeling they will bring this one back next year.

I skipped on the recommended toasted coconut topping and added a trio of Lifesaver pastel jellybeans. Yum!

Hope you had a wonderful Easter! xo

Mini

via // via // via // via

I adore these little pink cans of Sofia Blanc de Blancs that have been popping up in more and more event photos online. The Society Social bar cart was styled perfectly and these minis are front and center.

I bought the four-pack for my friend Collette's birthday last weekend. Each can comes with an individually wrapped bendy straw, which was definitely a hit.

Dress: F21 (old). Jacket: Joie. Necklace: Max and Chloe.

Cheers!

Daisy Days

#1 Marc Jacobs Daisy Print Scarf $495
#2 Forever 21 Ditsy Sunflower Dress $15.80
#3 Kate Spade Gerbera Garden Ring $78
#4 Marc Jacobs Daisy 1.7 oz Eau de Toilette Spray $62
#5 RED Valentino High Heel Sandal in Daisy $450
#6 Tiffany & Co. Daisy Key Ring $350

It's not quite warm enough for daisies... but we're getting closer everyday. I bought the dress from Forever 21 in red and I'm trying to locate the blue too. By far (really far) the best daisy deal above. How cute would those Valentino heels be with a white dress?

P.S. Jack Rogers will be on Hautelook today at 11AM EST.

Friday Five

Happy Birthday Teddy! (I'm a couple days late with the blog birthday wish.) We went to dinner at one of our favorite spots, Ippudo (we hadn't been since this post), to celebrate both his birthday and our anniversary. We made it "official" 4 years ago. Love you!

Guess Galcott $59.95 (Purchased at DSW)

Lust and must. I'm really excited about these new Guess slingbacks, the color is closer to the Choos than depicted. I already have them in black so I know I can get through a night in them. The higher the better!

I didn't get the chance to see Hunger Games on its opening weekend but helped keep the box numbers up in its second week. I thought Everything The Hunger Games Movie Left Out on Gawker did a fair job with their comparison to the book. I have the same complaints most do with adaptations so I'll spare you my rant. Nonetheless, I enjoyed the movie and look forward to the next. (But seriously, why wasn't Buttercup orange? Since I was little I've wanted an orange tabby cat so that one didn't slip by me.)

I've been thinking about carrot cake cupcakes with cream cheese frosting for weeks. I'm planning to make them this weekend with my mom. Nom nom!

Last but certainly not least... for those observing Easter or Passover have a great holiday! xo

Go Big Blue

via NYTimes

Something Borrowed, Something Kentucky Blue. Have you ever been to a wedding during a major sports event? (Lauren, I know you have!) I would never plan it this way but think it would be fun to go if the majority of the guests were passionate about the teams playing and there was a big screen. I would just hope for the bride and groom that the game started after the ceremony.

via The Kentucky Priss

I loooveeeeddddd the cobalt pants Jess, aka The Kentucky Priss, wore for Saturday's Kentucky vs. Louisville game! This is the definition of game day chic.

BaubleBar Cobalt Collar Necklace $38

I will root for UK as long as they aren't playing UConn (or Lehigh, haha). My dad is a UK alum. In honor of the Wildcat win last night, here are a few of my favorite cobalt picks. Congrats to my Kentucky gals!
