Honeymoon Part 7 - 4x4 Tour

One of the highlights of our honeymoon was a 4x4 tour of Bora Bora's main island, Vaitape. Most of the resorts with over-water bungalows are built on small islands in the lagoon surrounding the main island. The Hilton had a shuttle that ran every hour back and forth - the trip was about 15 minutes. We traveled to Vaitape for the tour and the following night for dinner at the Bora Bora Yacht Club.

The same friend that helped me plan and prepare for the honeymoon gave us this excursion as a wedding present. She arranged our tour with Vavau 4x4 Adventures through the hotel concierge.

We traveled along a main road that circles the island and went up steep mountains only accessible by the Jeep. Our driver had skills.

Warrior II.

World War II canons.

Taking it all in.

We learned so much about Bora Bora from our awesome tour guide, Poroi.

After the excursion we relaxed back at our bungalow. I miss this view!

Fall Things

Booties. I've been living in this pair by Rag & Bone. (Similar version by Dolce Vita.) I'm pretty lazy and will be wearing black leggings and neutral colored sweaters until March.

Candles. Autumn Harvest was a Target find. There is a great article on home fragrance in the November issue of Real Simple. One key takeaway...
Tell us a common mistake that people make with home fragrance.
Sticking with a single element - say, just jasmine or just gardenia. Unless it's really, really high-end, it draws too much attention to itself. People will think you're trying to cover something up. You're much better off with a multifaceted fragrance that's hard to pinpoint.

I will always think of this when I'm shopping for candles now. I have come across some great high end candles (Nest, Aquiesse) at Home Goods recently. Be on the lookout!

Squash. My colleague brought in delicious baked spaghetti squash and cheese, which inspired me to look up more recipes with this veggie. I decided to make this spinach, tomato and goat cheese stuffed squash. It was easy and delicious. I'd say it's healthy too, depending on how much cheese you add.

Honeymoon Part 6 - Another Day in Paradise

I packed my own snorkel... self-proclaimed germaphobe.

My globetrotting friend lent me her waterproof Nikon Coolpix S31 that she bought specifically to take underwater pictures on vacations. It got the job done for the beach. I would recommend this over a waterproof phone case so you aren't stuck with something incompatible down the road.

My other photos were taken with a Nikon D3200. I purchased mine from Costco.

Friday's Fancies: #150

Congratulations to Alison of Long Distance Loving on the 150th edition Friday's Fancies! I love when I have the chance to link up, be sure to visit her site and blog hop around. If there was a soirée to celebrate the three years of Friday's Fancies, this is what I would be (dreaming of) wearing.

I'm off to the Vineyard after work for Columbus Day Weekend. It's one of my favorite times to be on the island. Happy weekending, all!

Honeymoon Part 5 - More Bora Bora

This was one of my favorite outfit days. I bought this lacey bathing suit at Target over the winter, when they first put out swimwear for Spring Break. I know it's an awful time of the year for trying on bathing suits... but you have to suck it up in, envision yourself with a tan and blame anything else on the fluorescent lighting.

The striped cutout maxi dress is from Red Dress Boutique and called "I Don't Do The Dishes". If you like Francesca's, then you will love their selection. I appreciated Ted's cooperation coordinating colors.

One of my favorite Tumblr sites is #MYFRIENDSAREMARRIED. The above came to mind as I was narrowing my honeymoon photos down from 800 to 250 down for a Facebook album. Obviously I'm married, but still relate and always get a good laugh from MFAM. It also serves as a reminder to myself not to be lame and/or obnoxious. Even with all that said, Honeymoon Part 6, 7 and maybe 8 are on the way... haha.

Honeymoon Part 4 - Bora Bora Spa

One of my favorite parts of the trip was our morning at the spa, which was located at the top of the resort. I chose the ylang ylang scented oil for my massage, which is in the Decléor face wash I use and a note in one of my favorite perfumes Bond No. 9 Westside.

My friend Sara wore this Victoria's Secret Tank Maxi on her honeymoon, and I quickly ordered the striped and solid black version after seeing her pictures. It was the perfect vacation dress. The elephant Baggu for J. Crew was a gift from my friend Lindsay that I had monogrammed with my new initials.

Honeymoon Part 3 - Bora Bora

The flight from Los Angeles to Tahiti was 8 hours. From Tahiti we took another plane to our final destination, Bora Bora. Thanks to my friend Lindsay, I knew to sit on the left side of the plane for the view. We arrived at the Hilton Bora Bora Nui  Resort & Spa around 10 AM and lounged on the beach until our bungalow was ready.

It is hard to put into words just how amazing the trip was... as I was writing this post Ted was looking at the pictures over my shoulder wishing we could turn back time!

We took over 800 pictures... many more to come!
