Newton Baby

You may have read in my nursery post that I found Lexi's crib on Craigslist. I was excited to find it half price and in excellent condition. When I went to pick it up, the owner was so sweet and also offered me the mattress. She assured me it was clean and she wouldn't pass it along otherwise. I figured I would eventually replace it with a new one for Lexi.

Fast forward more than a year later... of course it was still in her nursery. I never had a good feeling about using a secondhand mattress if I didn't have to. Babies and toddlers have accidents... and there isn't any way to truly clean a standard mattress. Why was this getting pushed down my list of priorities for Lexi when I probably wouldn't use it for myself? I was quickly reminded of this when I had the opportunity to review the Newton Baby Wovenaire Crib Mattress.

Lexi was all over it as soon as it was out of the box. I'm not joking, she immediately laid down on it.

It has a removable, 100% breathable cover and the mattress itself is completely washable. As you can see, Lexi was very intrigued.

I had anxiety when Lexi first started sleeping in her crib, especially when she started to roll onto her stomach. This would have given me some peace of mind during that transition. Since she is older now, I have opted to add a sheet over the cover. However, I probably would have opted without one when she first started sleeping in her crib at 6 months. The only downside is that if you have to remove the cover to wash it (let's say there is an accident in the night) you need a second one on hand while the other is in the wash.

Overall, I think this is a great investment for your little one and unlike a standard mattress is a great hand-me-down since it is washable.  I like that it is non-toxic, hypo-allergenic and doesn't off-gas chemicals like foam or latex.

I love knowing that Lexi is now sleeping on a breathable, safe surface. She's been dreaming on it for over a week with no complaints! Use the code VINEYARD30 for $30 off any purchase of $250 or more at Newton Baby.
