Peace, Love, Grace

image via The Martha's Vineyard Times

The holidays are a time we especially remember those that live on in our hearts and memories.

Grace McDonnell, one of the children lost in the Sandy Hook tragedy last year, spent her summers on Martha's Vineyard. Her dream was to grow up and live on the island as a painter.

Although I never met Grace or her family, together we share a love for this special place. A brick commemorating Grace lies beneath the Edgartown Lighthouse as part of the Children's Memorial.

Gifts for the Jetsetter

My travel savvy friend lent me her dual voltage straightener, adapter and waterproof camera for my trip to Bora Bora earlier this year. I hear horror stories of straighteners melting abroad... be prepared!

You can see a few of the underwater photos I took on the camera here. This same jetsetter clued me in on a Living Social deal for a 10 foot long iPhone charger cable For $10... I use it all the time now! I hope the deal goes back live again because it was the best price I found besides eBay. It's especially great when you are staying in a hotel and there is no nearby or free outlet by the bed.

The Longchamp tote is perfect for both work and play since it fits a laptop and magazines. The cashmere scarf and candles are luxuries I would love to have for my next trip.

Gifts for Him

By request a gift guide for the guys. This was post was almost Ted approved... he said I should add a set of golf clubs. The most unique stocking stuffer I came across was the Double IPA Lip Balm for $6.50.

Meet Daisy

Meet Daisy

This is my parents sweet new puppy, Daisy. She made an appearance on Instagram as Penny before we changed her name. She is a Shetland Sheepdog, better known as Sheltie. Wild Daisy is quite the handful. It didn't take her long to gnaw on my favorite boots that I should have never left unattended. Ted and I had fun playing with her over the holiday.

We had a quick photo op before I went to my 10-year high school reunion. I got my hair highlighted and cut earlier that day... wish I could take credit for those curls. Time for me to practice!

Happy Thanksgiving

via Inslee

Someday when I host Thanksgiving this is how I envision my future self and pup. Ha! We'll see about that. I am lucky that I just have to show up at my parent's house with wine in hand.

I feel so blessed to have my husband, family and amazing friends in my life. Love you all to pieces! I am grateful for all of my blog readers... there wouldn't be one without you! As always, thank you for stopping by.

And I present my future Thanksgiving tablescape... if you are a blue and white fan you will love this Southern Living feature. I spy Juliska Country Estate in the mix... interesting to see how it was incorporated with traditional blue and white pieces that I have.

Of course I'll send you home with leftovers....
(You can download the gift tags from Southern Living here.)

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

Sara and Chris: The Wedding!

Sara and Chris' perfectly preppy wedding had all the essential elements - J. Crew, stripes, hydrangeas, seersucker, monograms and nautical flare. Lucky me had access to all of the professional photos (Maid of Honor perk)... it was quite overwhelming in the best kind of way. The ceremony was held at the Church in Brielle and the reception followed at Manasquan River Golf Club. Congratulations to my BFF!

Dress: J. Crew. Shoes: Kate Spade.

Sara and Chris: Lobster Bake Rehearsal

Summer flashback... Sara and Chris' wedding down the shore! You may have read about Sara's engagement, bridal shower and bachelorette... now I am finally covering the main event.

We kicked off the wedding weekend with a lobster bake at Chris' family's house. Sara gifted the bridal party seersucker monogram koozies from Sweet Tea Monograms... we all loved them! Looking back at these photos has me longing for summer.. especially now that it is freezing up north!

Juliska Holiday

Last night I stopped by Juliska's holiday event at their flagship store in Stamford featuring entertaining ideas from Catherine Tompkins of My Life in Parties and delicious bites from Le Farm/The Whelk and Dough & Co.

The ladies of Juliska are so friendly and I absolutely love going into the store. I bring all my friends that visit by for the unique experience. I will be forever growing my collection.

Attention Brides-to-be: I highly recommend registering with Juliska directly. They have a wonderful bridal specialist and great program that includes a gift for your guests placing orders during a two-week period leading up to your shower or big day, 15% registry completion and other benefits.

Real life Pinterest before my eyes. This was my favorite tablescape... I immediately went into "blogger mode" and actually drove home to get my camera because my iPhone wouldn't do it justice. The elephant and bamboo accents... ahhhh.

Which table would you like to be placed at?

I left with a great gift bag and couldn't resist purchasing My Life in Parties' letterpress holiday stationery. I especially love the "Thank you for HO-HO-HOSTING!" for upcoming parties.

While I was there I spotted Adare of Fairfield County 411. If you live in FC you likely already read her blog... if not now you are! She will keep you posted on all the happenings in the area. We were later in the checkout line with the same gift tags in hand.

Some of the pieces are available at Bloomingdale's ... it's Friends and Family time! :)

Disclaimer: These are my own thoughts and opinions of Juliska - this post was not sponsored.

Honeymoon Part 8: A few more pics...

Diving off our dock.

Relaxing before dinner.

Confession: I bought this dress years ago thinking it would be perfect for a tropical vacation...like a honeymoon. Timeless Lilly!

Ted modeling... hehe. I love looking back at all of our silly photos.

A few readers have contacted me with questions about our trip to Bora Bora (when/how we booked, what I packed, tips, etc.)... I plan to put together a post with more details. Feel free to contact me at vineyardloveknots at gmail dot com or leave a comment below with any questions.

Bloomingdale's Friends & Family

Sales, sales everywhere. Bloomingdale's Friends & Family (20% off, Code: FRIENDS, Ends 11/17) is one of my favorites because their exclusion list isn't a mile long.

My Bloomies lust list that I created while watching Real Housewives of Beverly Hills this evening (so happy that it's finally back on). Santa, I hope you are reading!

Writing this post made me think of Serendipity, one of my favorite holiday movies. It all started over a pair of gloves at the famous store... I do believe in shopping fate.

Honeymoon Part 7 - 4x4 Tour

One of the highlights of our honeymoon was a 4x4 tour of Bora Bora's main island, Vaitape. Most of the resorts with over-water bungalows are built on small islands in the lagoon surrounding the main island. The Hilton had a shuttle that ran every hour back and forth - the trip was about 15 minutes. We traveled to Vaitape for the tour and the following night for dinner at the Bora Bora Yacht Club.

The same friend that helped me plan and prepare for the honeymoon gave us this excursion as a wedding present. She arranged our tour with Vavau 4x4 Adventures through the hotel concierge.

We traveled along a main road that circles the island and went up steep mountains only accessible by the Jeep. Our driver had skills.

Warrior II.

World War II canons.

Taking it all in.

We learned so much about Bora Bora from our awesome tour guide, Poroi.

After the excursion we relaxed back at our bungalow. I miss this view!
