O Christmas Tree

Over the weekend Ted and I traveled north to Shelton, CT to Jones Family Farms to harvest our own Christmas tree. I overheard my colleagues talking about it on Friday and thought it would be fun since I've never cut my own before. Ted's parents were visiting and came along. After scouting out trees for 30 minutes Ted's dad spotted the one we brought home.

Ready to saw.

Surprise, Ted did most of the work.

This was not staged, I did take care of a few branches.

(I usually only wear the mini backpack to amusement parks, occasionally a fitness class or something. Is this on the same level as a fanny pack? I found this funny article on Glamour, Fashion Flashback: Let's Talk Mini Backpacks. I think of Cher every time I wear mine... and will not part with it haha.)

Pullover: aerie. Backpack: Prada (90's). Jeans: Forever 21. Boots: Sorel (c/o OnlineShoes.com).

Ted's dad in the background reminding us that he found the keeper!

Our 8-foot tree looked mini next to the monster in front of us.

After cutting down the tree and securing it to the car we stopped at their winery for a tasting. I'm happy to report it is up in the living room and ready to be decorated. We stopped by Target to pick up some lights and they were all out of what I wanted. They did still have everything from the Neiman Marcus collection. Go figure.

Have you ever harvested your own tree? Any good stories? My colleague's tree went missing after it was baled and they found it on top of another car!

  5. We harvested our own tree last year for the first time and I will never do that again! Real trees shed needles constantly. With 3 kids and a dog I couldn't handle one more chore:) They do smell good though! Cute outfit as usual!

We have a fakie- neither of us are interested in pine needle clean up!
